I am an artist and want to learn to use the computer to do more with my art. I want to do greeting card design. I just bought a new mac and need to know what the best software to buy to do the job….. and maybe a book to show me how to use it.

You should get the Creative Suite 3 with Illustrator, Photoshop, and In Design. with these programs you can design the layout for your greeting cards, create graphics, add photos, draw cartoons or other illustrations, and all sorts of cool things. I work as a graphic designer and design posters, brochures, signs, and pamphlets and fliers with the Creative Suite. It really is the best set of programs out there for this kind of work.

Edit: The software comes with a manual and there are also tutorials you can do to help you learn the programs.
