When you submit designs to a greeting card company, and you also include a SASE, how do you package this all up? Any suggestions?

Thought I’d suggest something else, though. I work as a designer for a publishing company. We have in-house artists who do most of the work and have occasionally hired freelance artists. The ones we most frequently deal with, though, have agency representation. It’s a route that can really jump-start your career.
There is a company called Workbook that showcases illustrations in a huge, hardback annual. It’s THE resource for designers, publishers (greeting card cos. included) to see in one convenient place a huge variety of styles. The annual also contains the names of illustrator agencies all over the world. I believe the book is still free. You should be able to contact them and have one sent to you for free. It’s important that you distinguish yourself as a self-employed illustrator to get one, though.
Best of luck to you.
